I grew up in Saskatoon and have lived here my whole life (minus the year I lived and taught in China). I have always been passionate about learning and educating myself & others, even though I wasn’t a huge fan of school because staying seated in a desk all day was hard for my neurodivergent brain- I needed more movement and hands on learning. This is why I bring multisensory learning and play into my literacy lessons.

Whenever people would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would say “I want to make this world a better place”. To this day, my main goal is still the same which is why I continue to be so passionate about education, especially reading. Like Frederick Douglas said, “Once you learn to read you will forever be free”. 

I have been teaching since 2011 and have seen how underfunded and unsupported our education system is. I’ve also seen the major learning gaps and the amount of children that are struggling with reading. This is WHY I decided to leave teaching and start my own private practice, because I want to fill in those gaps. I want to lower the number of struggling readers in the world, and at the same time build confidence & self-esteem. 

Not only am I passionate about teaching reading, but I am also passionate about advocating for mental health, ending homelessness & the stigma of addictions, promoting body positivity, actively learning about anti-racism and much more. I think one of the best parts of life is the ability to continue to grow and learn more each day. I will forever be educating myself to continue to be the best person I can possibly be.
