More about our CEO Kathleen…
I grew up in Saskatoon and have lived here my whole life — minus a year spent living and teaching in China. I currently live with my husband of 18 years and our two boys (11 and 7)
Whenever people asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always said, “I want to make this world a better place.” That’s still my goal today — it’s why I’ve built my career around education, especially reading. As Frederick Douglass said, “Once you learn to read you will forever be free.”
Not only am I passionate about teaching reading, but I also care deeply about equity and wellbeing more broadly — mental health, homelessness, the stigma around addiction, body positivity, and anti-racism, among other causes close to my heart. I think one of the best parts of life is the ability to keep growing and learning, and I’ll forever be educating myself to be the best person I can be.
I want everyone who enters my office space to feel welcomed, accepted, appreciated, and supported — exactly as they are.
