My daughter, mom (former teacher) and I had the absolute best parent coaching session with Kathleen! She taught a lot of invaluable and fun things to incorporate into our reading journey for my daughter who needed some extra guidance. When we left, my daughter told me how much fun she had and asked when she could go back next to see Kathleen! As a parent, Kathleen gave me great tools and guidance to be able to support my daughter at home with her reading. Over the past month, both my husband and I have seen an improvement in our daughters reading and she also seems more confident when reading to us. My daughter’s teacher even reached out a few weeks ago and told us she noticed an improvement in her reading and to keep us what we are are doing at home. I would highly recommend Kathleen’s parent/coaching to anyone!

I cannot say enough good things about Kathleen and Soaring Readers! It is hard to put into words what it means to have watched her save my son. When I contacted her a little over a year ago, my family was desperate. My son was entering grade 3 and he could not read the word “cat”. He told us he was stupid, he told us he was worthless and he told me he wanted to disappear. His school told us that he wouldn’t get help because there “weren’t enough resources.” There weren’t enough resources for a little boy even after he was diagnosed with dyslexia. Within about 6 sessions with Kathleen, my son asked me to take him to a bookstore, he looked at books for over an hour and he left the store with chapter books he could read! He has attended sessions with Kathleen twice a week for a year. He has worked hard, done the daily homework and he has shown steady improvement, even a year later. It’s easy to think it’s some sort of miracle, but it’s actually a combination of a very skilled teacher, a program that recognizes the science of reading and a lot of hard work by all. With every word he was able to decode, my son gained back self esteem and confidence. Kathleen is a teacher of extraordinary skill - my son loves spending time with her and she has opened a whole new world for him.
